FOPM's iFAE Guest Login "Kiosk"

iFAE "Kiosk" Computer : The Unboxing

When we got FOPM's iFAE computer it was December 4, 2020 and we just set up the Windows 10 system and checked out the system.  It will take about more than a year later when the iFAE program was actually set up into this computer though there really isn't much to setup locally since the system is basically browser-based and the system is in the FOPM cloud.

The only local setup they did would probably be just a driver download of the Brother thermal printer for guest stickers.  We probably could've used this way back in 2018 during the Star Cinema 2nd Film Shoot. But I just designed our own sticker way back in 2018.

**One** of the "complaints" is security so we enforced sticker tags to the Film Crew with QR Code.  Though of course once they are inside TEL3 they really very seldom move about and restrict themselves either to the function room or the floor where the movie is being shot.

When I looked up the specs of this computer I was amazed because it was actually good for an All-In-One PC and in my opinion it is a total waste to just use a 49,995 touch screen computer as a data entry "monitor".   I actually checked out how this kiosk is implemented in other properties and asked 'if this is a "kiosk" then why do you have a physical keyboard and mouse?'  In effect you got a touch screen monitor that actually functions just like a basic monitor so for me it's a waste.

Hence, I wanted this computer to fully realize its potential.  Later if they really want a touch screen interface for Guest Login then we can just buy a touch screen monitor (not PC) that could do the job.

 Nasa Lazada yan... and cheap...

To go fully touch screen without the need for a physical keyboard and mouse, open the On-Screen Keyboard on Windows 10 or 11:
  • Go to Start, then select Settings  > Accessibility > Keyboard, and turn on the On-Screen Keyboard toggle. A keyboard that can be used to move around the screen and enter text will appear on the screen. The keyboard will remain on the screen until you close it.

By the way... check out how Michael Buble sounded in the iFAE computer... 😁

Whereas there was already a need before for a computer to be in the reception desk to fulfill communications needs via messaging apps the original idea was to upgrade the old Windows 7 desktops in the admin office first then move the old computers into the reception desk.

So now with this TOUCH SCREEN computer for iFAE, I can hit 2 birds with one stone... One PC with two functions:
  •     Concierge Communications Hub.   The touch screen capability of the "kiosk" computer will be perfect for this as well as other productivity apps that will be useful for a Concierge desk; and using the same PC;
  •    iFAE Guest Login Data Entry shall be accomplished via an extended monitor.  This extended monitor can still be changed into a real touch screen monitor with HDMI connector into the Concierge PC.

This way one computer does two functions with 50% less electricity consumption.

If other properties want to copy what we did, feel free to contact us...

If I would wish something from FOPM Santa... it would be a MEMORY UPGRADE from 8gb to 16GB  so the Concierge can concurrently handle even more apps.  We cannot do it since the computer is under FOPM accountability.  Here's a LINK about memory compatibility.

Advanced Merry Christmas.... and Peace and Goodwill to FOPM... 😉
